Job Objective:
To manage, design, implement, and maintain the SQL Server database architecture to ensure high availability, performance, and security of data, meeting the business and technical requirements of the organization.
Main Responsibilities:
Architecture and Development:
- Create and design databases based on business requirements.
- Develop innovative strategies, processes, and best practices.
- Collaborate with the development team on database design to meet business requirements.
- Management and Optimization:
- Write and troubleshoot complex stored procedures.
- Develop SQL Server replication, disaster recovery, and backup solutions
- Perform SQL Server performance tuning and performance testing with applications.
- Maintenance and Documentation:
- Create and maintain SQL Server maintenance plans and documentation.
- Document maintenance and sustainment processes.
Operations and Monitoring:
- Manage SQL Server operations across all environments.
- Monitor and optimize database performance.
- Control and monitor user access to the database.
Support and Security:
- Backup and restore databases.
- Contact the database vendor for technical support.
- Develop and test database backup procedures.
Requirements:
Mandatory Experience and Skills:
- Over 2 years of experience as a SQL Server DBA.
- Experience with high availability solutions (DataGuard, AlwaysOn, Golden Gate).
- Experience in application development and support.
- Database monitoring, preventive and corrective maintenance.
- Database patching and user management.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to work in a team environment and independently.
- Analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
Desirable Experience and Skills:
- Informatica skills.
- UNIX Shell scripting.
- Understanding of UNIX/Linux/Windows clustering.
- Experience in application development and support within the utilities sector.
